Enigma

1 May 2016

The Enigma wanders far abroad,

An entire whole with missing pieces,

Losing more and more along the road,

Completing everything, yet unfinished.

Each piece a key to the unsolved riddle,

Scattered far and wide to the masses,

Still standing tall like a cripple,

The Enigma watches as life passes.

A chest full of furious calm,

A mind forming a dark beacon,

A heart of a lion, filled with qualms,

A beloved protégée with no kin.

The Enigma wearies on the endless road,

The burning fire continually dimming,

The strong shoulders now bowed,

An animate carcass among the living.

Some live to die, some die to live,

Spiralling down the conundrum of life,

The Enigma gazes, as mortals dive,

Into a world of chaos, love, lies and strife.

And so it goes on, and on, and on,

The Enigma’s smile growing disdainful,

On pieces of puzzles, the answers are drawn,

Lie neglected, forgotten in a world full of fools.
